Hello World: Building in Public

The first post on my new site. Why I rebuilt my portfolio, what I learned, and what comes next.

Why Rebuild?

Every developer has that moment when they look at their portfolio and think, “This doesn’t represent who I am anymore.” That’s where I found myself.

My old site was fine. It worked. But it felt… generic. Like every other developer portfolio out there. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned from years of engineering, it’s that the best code reflects the person who wrote it.

The Vision

I wanted something different:

  • Neobrutalist aesthetic — Black and white, sharp corners, no rounded-everything SaaS vibes
  • Terminal energy — I live in the terminal, my site should reflect that
  • Color only on interaction — Neon accents that reward engagement, not passive viewing
  • Content-first — The writing is the product, not the wrapper

Building in Public

This site is a work in progress. You’re watching it evolve in real-time. Some things might break. Some designs might change. That’s the point.

I believe in learning out loud. In showing the messy middle, not just the polished end result. If you’re here, you’re part of that journey.

What’s Coming

  • More blog posts on engineering, architecture, and mentorship
  • Project showcases with real lessons learned
  • Notes and TILs for quick learnings
  • Maybe some surprises in the terminal navigation… 👀

Welcome to ThatDev. Let’s build something together.
